Reading Dance Professionals' Network: Intensive
Presented by Junction Dance
A NEW series of professional level dance classes for dancers based in and around Reading, run by Junction Dance, Reading’s new umbrella organisation for dance and dance theatre.
The RDPN INTENSIVE consists of four classes, each in different dance genres. These classes are aimed at professional or undergraduate level dancers, although you do not have to have experience in the particular genre of each class. The idea is to try out new things in a professional teaching environment, alongside your colleagues in the dance scene of Reading.
Classes all take place in our fantastic new dance facilities; with a large sprung dance floor, mirrors and barres. All classes are on Sunday evenings in January, 5-6.30pm.
All the classes are taught by members of the RDPN who each bring their own expertise to the table.
Sunday 10 January, 5-6.30pm - Jazz with Helen Read
A full jazz technique class including warm up and corner work and finishing with a musical theatre style routine. My jazz classes are influenced by my classical ballet and contemporary training.
Sunday 17 January, 5-6.30pm - Dance as Social Transformation: Somatic Practice & Social Choreography with Jennifer Stokes
A somatic warm up that draws upon yoga, tai chi and release movement vocabularies and exercises moving on to the exploration of everyday movement and the unpacking of habitus within various environments in everyday life. Participants will be encouraged to let go of their unwanted habitus, behaviours and/or social interactions.
Sunday 24 January, 5-6.30pm - Ballet with Madelaine Kelly
Madelaine has over 30 years of teaching experience, covering all age groups and standards up to professional level and enjoy delivery non-syllabus classes. I have a Bachelor of Philosophy in ballet and contextual studies and RAD Teaching Diploma.
Sunday 31 January, 5-6.30pm - Hip Hop with Josie Norman
Josie trained at the North London Dance studios in musical theatre and with Impact dance learning HipHop theatre. She has performed with Zoonation in Trafalgar square. Four years ago she started teaching hiphop for local dance schools, later setting up her own dance school Reading School of Dance.
